Botanicals were a common place ingredient in the life of my Grandmother. Her kitchen was always filled with little brown bags of herbs and teas, vitamins and concoctions. I frequently went to her garden to pick herbs or cut Rose Hips. My grandfather, who made his own grape wine, was also an avid mushroom hunter and I accompanied him on his many mushroom hunting expeditions in the hills above our town. I watched my grandparents rely on the bounty from the earth for health remedies and cooking spices. I was intrigued but never thought I would return back to botanicals as an adult.
Through the years I have worked in many art mediums and botanicals became another natural medium for me as I then began studying the pharmacology of plant extractions, essential oils, aromatherapy, perfumery and cold process soap making. Many times in life one comes full circle and I am now back here at botanicals where I started.
When I founded BellaVita Botanicals, my thought was to bring nature’s botanical bounty to a line of products that would engage and educate people in the use of natural plant remedies for beauty and body care. Offering these products is a way to empower my customers so they can make safe and healthy choices when they buy a product that they are going to use on their bodies. I have found that earth’s botanical pallet offers enough variety that we can leave behind the unhealthy chemicals and synthetic additives which now dominate our bath and beauty products.
